My love for words and melody started at a very young age. All my life I have enjoyed playing with them: philosophising, composing songs, writing books, and - more recently - exploring human experience and the ineffable through poetry.

I was born and have lived most of my life in New Zealand, all the while travelling extensively as many of us “Kiwis” are inclined to do! As an author and publisher I’ve worn many hats: dreaming up storylines, establishing an independent publishing house, negotiating rights deals with some of the world’s leading publishers. As a singer/songwriter I’ve composed countless songs - many lost to the hands of time - the best (I hope) still here to be heard today. I also get a kick out of writing poetry and dabbling in photography,  the result of which can be seen all throughout this site.

I hope you enjoy looking around and getting to know me through my work. I’m often adding new songs and poems, short stories and thought pieces to my blog, and of course new books as they come to fruition. To contact me directly click here.

Thanks for stopping by!

BOOKS

Writing and publishing picture books has been my main focus  the past 17 years. To date they have been published in 16 countries across 13 languages, picking up a number of literary and design awards along the way.

MUSIC

I’ve been composing songs since I was 17, many of which I understand better today than when I first wrote them! I like to perform in intimate settings and to work as a songwriter alongside other emerging and established artists.

POETRY

I never really got poetry until I started to write it. Now I appreciate many forms, including the tricky business of metered rhyme. I love the challenge of coming up with something fresh and engaging when it’s ‘all been said before.’

BLOG

Not so much a traditional blog, more a place where I put things I can’t find another home for: mostly thought pieces and short stories that would otherwise be languishing somewhere between my and imagination and your elucidation!
